We’re delighted to be joining the celebrations at Poole Pride this year, with two events that honour the history of HIV and the communities that lived it.

HIVstory Exhibition 12pm–5:30pm

Our HIVstory exhibition brings together first-person testimonies documenting the social and cultural history of HIV in the UK. Whether you lived through the 1980s and 90s, are currently living with HIV, or simply want to understand the history of the community you’re celebrating today, this is a space for reflection, education, and pride.

Come and celebrate the strength of those who survived, and the knowledge that keeps us all moving forward.

The Story of Our Lives – Living the HIV Legacy 4:15pm–5:15pm | Cinema

Join us for an immersive presentation that bridges the early days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic and the reality of living with the condition today.

We begin by addressing the myths and misconceptions that still linger around HIV and AIDS, before tracing the history of the virus from the fear and stigma of the early years to the medical breakthroughs of the modern era. At the heart of the session is Survivors, an exclusive 20-minute film exploring the lived experiences of people diagnosed in the 1980s and 90s, including their resilience, their activism, and their community.

This session is for survivors, for the next generation, and for everyone who believes that understanding the past strengthens the future.

Both events are free to attend.
